Opposite ApproachTM
PRODUCTIVE THINKING WITH OPPOSITES
Opposite ApproachTM is a productive thinking methodology based on the fact reality is always based on an opposite pair. We can deduce ANY reality, and-or understand ANY situation, by analyzing (accepting, observing) the opposite pair.
Example: Comfortable - Uncomfortable
For example, if we are dealing with a situation based on the comfortable-uncomfortable opposite pair, we can diagram (articulate-analyze) it into four quadrants, as follows: 1) what makes us comfortable 2) what makes us uncomfortable 3) what moves us toward comfortable, and, 4) what moves us away from comfortable. There are always things to list, for all people, in all quadrants, making all people, and all entities, really, identical (everyone has a 1/4 comfortable-reality). Comfortable and uncomfortable always occur together, at the same time, although our attention can only be on one or the other (see day and night); we cannot eliminate either, completely, and neither can anyone else.
Reality ALWAYS Four Quadrants
We can get confused by thinking reality is only one quadrant, the one we 'see'; but this cannot be true; all quadrants are joined, and present for all people in all times and places; so we must always look for the what-we-do-not-presently-see. The symbol, or organization, always stays the same; that is, both sides of the opposite pair are always present and can never be removed. This example is extremely powerful once we realize the relationship of opposites is found in every reality, scientific, philosophical, psychological, artistic, historical, and economic. The opposite relationship, or circle, is something very important for all of us to ponder.
Reality What We Choose to See ![]()
What we choose to see is reality for us. What we choose to say (or show) may end up being reality for another. So how we think, where our attention is, what we say, and what we do, or what example we give, creates reality for us and, often, or, at least, sometimes, for those around us. Attention management is, by far, the most important skill to learn, master, and-or teach.
Choosing a Safe, Productive Reality
We can use the Opposite Approach™ technique to choose one side of any pair, such as: safe-unsafe, productive-non-productive, effective-ineffective, good-bad, right-wrong, beautiful-ugly, rich-poor, etc..... All people (and entities) are safe, productive, effective, good, right, beautiful and rich sometimes. And, of course, the opposite of this is always also true.
Another Example: Personal Prosperity
Personal prosperity is ours when we arrange assets to exceed liabilities, income to exceed expenses, and appreciation to exceed depreciation. The absolute value of these is irrelevant; the relationship, or circle, between each pair is what's important. All people can experience personal prosperity by keeping assets, income and appreciation greater than their opposites; appreciation, and expense management, over time, is what produces wealth. Sometimes we all experience liabilities, expenses, depreciation greater than their opposites; how we manage this situation, especially where we place our attention, is what determines our financial outcome. Financial outcome is always produced by 'how we think' and not necessarily, 'what we have.' (and the opposite is also always true).
Creating Problems
We create our own problems by trying to change sometimes into always, and by keeping our attention on where we have problems, or where we have not achieved our goals. Learning to ignore is the most important trait for productive thinking. Learning to manage our attention is our most important responsibility (to ourselves, first, and others, second). We can always choose to move away from non-productive ideas, thoughts, situations, people, places, etc., because the opposite is always also true. Because we live in, and as, absolute relativity, (all of us, circular opposites) all of the words in the opposite pairs describe all entities; this is the great unifier all of us seek (have, are, know, can enjoy). Click through these many sets of opposite pairs and you will gain a deep insight into how (your) reality is organized.
Scientific Analysis
We can, and should, also use Opposite Approach™ analysis for scientific pairs like energy-mass, form-substance, conservation-symmetry, time-space, light-sound, etc. Opposite Approach™, Day or Night, and the Universal Mandala provide, finally, the analysis and articulation methodology we can use to move us ahead in all areas of research, government, and business. It is a general, and very useful, technique for analyzing any situation (any person, any place, any time, or any set of these).
Opposite is Always Also True
One fact describes every universe: the opposite is also true, no matter what. This fact describes, and is, a circle. Do you like to argue? So, here's why the argument is unproductive and a waste of time...(don't let it steal your energy!) Want to understand everything about everything?....go here...
Conservation of the Circle is the basis for reality.
